What a Keratin Treatment Is — and Isn’t
A keratin treatment is a conditioning formula that is applied to clean hair, left to process and then sealed with heat. It smooths the surface of the hair so it looks shinier, feels softer and frizzes less. It does not change your hair permanently: the effect fades gradually with washing, and new growth comes in with your natural texture.
How straight the result looks depends on your natural texture and on technique. If your goal is the straightest possible finish, look at hair straightening treatments; if you mainly want softer, calmer hair, a lighter hand with the flat iron keeps more movement.
Before You Start

Keratin Maintenance Tips
- Wash gently and condition every time; add a mask once a week.
- Use a leave-in heat protectant before blow-drying or flat-ironing.
- Repeat the full treatment only every 3 to 6 months. In between, touch up the new growth at the roots and use liquid keratin on the lengths.
