Hair Masks & Repair Treatments
Deep-conditioning masks, liquid keratin and reconstruction treatments for hair that feels dry, porous or over-processed.
Which Treatment Does Your Hair Need?
“Mask” gets used for almost any intensive treatment, but the products here do different jobs. Use this as a starting point:
| Hair feels… | Look at | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Dry, rough, hard to detangle | Excelencia Hair Mask — 500 g | A deep-hydration, restructuring mask. |
| Weak or dull, in need of a weekly treatment | Onion & Coffee Salt-Free Hair Mask — 250 g | An intensive conditioning mask with coffee extract and red onion. |
| Porous — absorbs water fast, dries frizzy | Excelencia Acidifying Treatment — 500 mL | Helps balance pH and manage porosity before a mask. |
| Damaged or over-processed | Amino Acid Hair Reconstruction Treatment | An intensive reconstruction treatment enriched with amino acids. |
| Straightened lengths between services | Excelencia Hydrolyzed Liquid Keratin — 250 mL | Conditions lengths that are already straight. |
How to Use a Hair Mask
- Shampoo first. A mask works on clean, damp hair.
- Squeeze out excess water so the mask isn’t diluted.
- Apply from mid-lengths to ends, massage in and comb through for even coverage.
- Leave on for the time on the label — typically 5 to 10 minutes for the masks in this collection.
- Rinse thoroughly.
Once a week suits most hair. Very dry or processed hair can use a mask more often; fine hair that gets weighed down may prefer every other week.
Masks Before and After a Smoothing Treatment
Before: hair in good condition takes a smoothing treatment more evenly. The Excelencia pre-treatment kit combines the acidifier, the mask and liquid keratin for that purpose.
After: the directions for Hair Liss Perfect allow washing afterward using only a mask or a hydrating conditioner. From then on, a weekly mask is part of good keratin aftercare, alongside the shampoo and conditioner in post-keratin hair care.
A Note on “Keratin Hair Masks”
Many shoppers search for a keratin hair mask. In this collection, the product that is specifically keratin is the hydrolyzed liquid keratin; the masks are conditioning treatments. We only describe ingredients that the product listing states, and the full ingredient list is always on the product label.
Hair Mask Questions
What is the difference between a hair mask and a conditioner?
A conditioner is for every wash: it detangles and smooths in a couple of minutes. A mask is more concentrated, stays on longer and is used about once a week for deeper conditioning.
Can a hair mask repair damaged hair?
A mask can make damaged hair look and feel better — softer, smoother and easier to manage — and help reduce breakage from brushing and styling. It cannot reverse damage; split ends need a trim.
Should I use a mask on my scalp?
Follow the label. The masks here are applied from mid-lengths to ends, where hair is oldest and driest.
